Woolrich, founded in 1830 by John Rich in Pennsylvania, began as a woolen mill producing durable fabrics, blankets, and socks for local workers, particularly lumberjacks. The brand became famous for its high-quality woolen goods and outfitted Union soldiers during the Civil War.
In the 1970s, Woolrich introduced its Arctic Parka, a signature product that remains popular for extreme cold weather. Known for its down insulation and fur-lined hood, it was originally designed for workers on the Alaskan pipeline. Woolrich also became known for its plaid flannel shirts and the "Buffalo Check" pattern, representing classic outdoor style.
